Leaflings are a sub-species of plant dragons that tend to resemble mice and leaves. They inhabit most forests and disguise themselves as leaves to hide amongst the trees and piles of leaf litter along the forest floor. Usually harmless and shy, when spotted they are usually scurrying from one hiding place to another, but will display a rather fierce (if adorable) display if threatened. Unless you appease them with corn. They have a strange fondness for corn, and tend to remember those that feed them as friends.
A little known fact about Verdlings is that when they find themselves out of their habitat of choice for too long they tend to take up residence in dishes they find lying around and rebuild their homes in those. These rare occurrences have only recently been documented, and for now it seems their dish of choice is old teacups and bowls.
